Each year we ask our scholarship recipients and their parents/guardians how it was for them working with The Patched Overalls Experience. Click on their images below to see what they have to say.

ALLISON BOVA - CLASS OF 2016

12 day Caribbean Marine Biology adventure with Broadreach. She earned certificates in scuba diving and sailing while living on a catamaran and collecting data for the REEF Fish Survey Project used by marine scientists worldwide.

THOMAS ENGLEMANN - CLASS OF 2017

21 day trip with Sustainable Summer. He traveled to Costa Rica's "most important biological reserves" to learn about environmental sustainability, "particularly in the areas of renewable energy, construction, and agriculture" in their program called "Bridge to the Future".

ALI GRASS - CLASS OF 2018

2 week program in Peru with Projects Abroad. She spent time shadowing doctors and health professionals in clinics and orphanages.

EMMA FLIEG - CLASS OF 2019

3 week program in Port Elizabeth, South Africa where she volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary for predominately abused, abandoned, injured or orphaned animals.

AARON STACY - CLASS OF 2020

9 days in Washington D.C. for the National Student Leadership Conference-Political Action and Public Policy getting a more in depth look at how our government works.

ELLIE NAEGER - CLASS OF 2021

4 week “Summer of Arts” program with Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA. 

 She took 2 courses where she learned new skills, created work for a portfolio and also earned college credit. 

CHRISTIAN KIEFER - CLASS OF 2022

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Christian’s experience changed multiple times. He eventually made his dream to travel a reality, but with a different plan.

LINDSEY CRUMP - CLASS OF 2023

1 week paleontology  expedition in the Bighorn Basin in southern Montana with Elevation Science Institute.

PENNY YANG - CLASS OF 2024

10 days in Torrance, CA with Pathways to Stem Cell Science which is a biotech-based, non-profit research and educational organization. Her program studied regenerative medicine and disease modeling."

We want to make The Patched Overalls Experience the very best it can be for the students, parents/guardians as well as the community. We hope that our mission and values are effectively communicated and our program is a positive influence.
