"Well during my trip I would have a camera with me so I can take pictures and stuff like that. And then when I got back I would present the journal, present the pictures and basically write down two or three goals that I could have possibly attained from this that I can now set for my future ideas and things like that that I learned from this trip"

"Just by the application process you might be able to maybe learn something about your job later on in life. How to apply, how to talk to people, how to plan things. Just how to be organized."

Advice from

1.) BE SURE TO READ EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY AND DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY!!!

2.) If you need any help, you just have to ask!! Ask a parent, guardian, teacher, counselor, etc. Go to the Patched Overalls page on Facebook, post the question to the community and see what others have to say.

3.) Search for youth programs, internships, or experiences with anything you are interested in. Be sure to check reviews and references for whatever programs you find. You want to make sure the place is legitimate and not a scam. That goes for safety as well. Your safety is the most important thing!!

4.) Ask yourself "Is my proposal worth $2500?"

5.) Really dig deep with the application process and proposal questions. Think about what all the words mean and what they mean to you.

6.) Think about the impact this experience could have on you in the short term and the long run.

7.) This process is not meant to be easy, and you will likely have to make some sacrifices to complete it. This is where you prove how bad you want it.
